Contender firing pin selector
« on: May 18, 2007, 02:44:20 PM »
I have a new used pre G2 Contender Carbine in .22LR.
After each shot the firing pin selector jumps to the mid position or sometimes to the centrefire position.
Is this usual?
Is it a difficult fix?

It's definitely not usual.  I don't know how hard a fix it would be but if you send it back to T/C, I'm confident they'll fix it free of charge.

It is not usual.  I had one that did that once.  Mine had a small burr in the hole in the hammer where the switch that changed from rimfire to centerfire was and it would not go all the way to the rimfire position.  The gun would fire but then the switch would go back to the safe position.  I took a small file and removed the burr so the lever would fully go to the rimfire position.  T/C would also gladly help you if needed.

Like they said not usual.  Never had it happen to me with mine in 22 years.  I'd take a good hard look at it like Bullseye suggested, or return it to T/C.  I carry mine in the plane as a survival gun and depend on it heavily to work right everytime.  It has never failed to do the job.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.
