What is this knife?
« on: March 14, 2004, 05:38:43 AM »
A couple of years back I bought a knife at a Texas Flea Market because it look quite old and was somewhat unique.

The blade is 7 1/2" long and made of steel.  It is engraved with "C. Bellon" and "Dexaca" immediately below it on one side and "Abran Paso" with "Los Valientas" below it on the other side.  There is a dog and a feather engraved on one side and semi-fancy scrollwork around the "Abran Paso and Los Valientas" on the other.

The hilt appears to be solid brass and the ferrule to hold the handle in place is also brass.  The handle appears to dark cow horn or Buffalo horn.

The sheath that came with it is hand-stitched leather that fits the knife perfectly.
