Percussion Ignition Lock
« on: March 26, 2007, 09:05:08 AM »
Does anyone fire their cannon with a percussion cap type setup?  I havent noticed any really and thought that would be a nice way to do it.  Lets see some pics if you have them. -TC-

Try the ( 3/4 Scale Field Cannon ) thread at the bottom of this page.   I've only tried it without a charge.  But it does send fire down the vent.

I may not be completely sane, but at least I don't think I have the power to influence the weather.

I would be more in favor of using a .22 blank for ignition.  This would make it easier to clean the vent between shots.

Here is a pic of my little parrot, with #11 ignition. Percussion would just require a different screw in nipple. Since this pic was taken, the it has been converted to 209, with the same spring loaded setup.  Boomer

Here's mine.  I'm taking this 2.15-inch BP cannon to see if I can sell it at the Wanenmacher Tulsa Gun Show this coming weekend (3/31 & 4/1).

In years past, I did gun shows.  In the course of life I talked with a fellow who filled two tables with double rifles.  Most ran from 3 to 5 grand.  He made very few sales at the show, but most were made the week after.

I would expect that selling a cannon would be similar.
