Here it goes.

Going to try my .44cal, 280g LBT, WFNGC, with a BHN of 21, @1235fps on a 400lb class, Russian boar, this weekend.
If that doesn't work I'll be pulling out my razor sharp KA-BAR and going in.

Well good luck to you Swampthing. Sure hope you get it with the .44 and don't have to resort to the knife - that might get a little too interesting. ;)

some people say that it's better to be lucky than to be good!    i think you'll need a lot of luck if you resort to that Ka-Bar!

let us know how it works.

BHN of 21 sure looks brittle to me.  What made you decide on that hardness?

Going to try NY for a change.
The bullet, long story, this hardness is good because bullets are sized to the throats, no obturation needed, better balance =better accuracy. Heat treated w/w with 2% tin added. Very ductile alloy. Repeated off center hits with a hammer and it mushrooms out, no chips.
There is pic on www.texasboars.com, in the photo posts, of a youngster on the back of a big russian. I've looked at that pic for a long time and I think I could do that too, if need be.

Just got back from Big Boar Lodge. One of the 400lb'ers we were after was a sow with a fresh litter so I chose to take a 185lb meat pig that I'm eating right now, very good. That 280g LBT, broadside and through the heart at 25yds while galloping, had him down and out in 20yds, he was staggering at 10yds. Great weekend regardless.
