barrel program on hold?
« on: March 30, 2007, 01:25:40 AM »
The local Gander guy said that the barrel program is on hold.  I didn't find anything on the web site stating so.  Anyone here know?  Gander has a new shipment of Rossi's in larger calibers.  I am considering it in 06;  $100 less, but no scope base, and they seem flimsier.  The lone H & R is a 7-08 with a U, so it does have an ejector.
just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they are not watching you

If you're talking NEF, I don't think it's true as there are recent posts of members getting their guns back with new barrels.
If you're talking Rossi, the barrel program is on hold.

Buy the H&R 7MM-08   You'll be much happier, and the H&R barrel program is the best deal around. With a C S dept second to none.

If you are talking about the Rossi barrel program , they never got it up and running and i don't see it ever happening , however they do sell some combo guns with a rifle & shotgun barrel .

Kenny,

U= 2004, that's the first year they started making barrels with extractors, but only in new calibers as far as I know. My 2004 204 has an extractor, but that's when it was first introduced. You can easily check it, with the barrel open, an extractor can't be pushed in, an ejector can be pushed in against the spring, and it also will snap out as the barrel reaches the full open position, the extractor will come out slowly.

As was said before, since you were talking Rossis with the Gander guy, he was referring to their non existent barrel program. I just talked to H&R CS yesterday to add another barrel to my order, she said nothing about the barrel program. ;)

;D I added a 45 Colt Carbine barrel to my order for the 444 Marlin, figured I might as well get one to play with. ;)

Thanks Quick. I was going to call H & R Monday to ask if it would be possible to add a barrel to my order. Now I know!   Did you happen to ask how much longer on your .444 ?   Dan

I talked to H&R customer service on Friday, they said the turn around time for new barrels is 8-10 weeks.  My son and I are planning to go there on Monday and drop our rifles off.  I'll let you know how we make out.
