Change of Interest/M1/M1 Carbine
« on: March 31, 2007, 05:54:06 AM »
Gentlemen,
Since CMP is almost out of M1 Garands, do you think that the interest will shift from the M1 Garand to the M1 Carbine? Do many of you think of buying just one Carbine or go for a group of them, as was done with the M1 Garand? I know the money problem will enter into this, but I would like to hear what you guys think.
Thanks again
Clancy

I don't plan to buy a carbine unless the price comes down. $495 for one with Italian stock, no sling, no oiler, no magazine just seems like too much money to me.

Clancy,Where did you get the information that CMP is almost out of Garands?According to what Orest told a Parallax member in person last week at the south store there is enough for several more years.

Prices do seem a little steep at almost 500 bucks per carbine..

The M1 carbine isn't half the gun an M1 Garand is..Oh wait a minute, yes it is...Since CMP isn't the only place to buy these , I don't see why interest would change...Any time I have a choice to get a Garand for less or even  money than a carbine, I will take a Garand...If I were in a firefight, I would always choose a Garand over a Carbine, given a choice.

Just an item of interest.Kahr has started making M-1 carbines. They bought the old Thompson Company and have started making carbines so if you wanted a brand new shooter rather than a collectible then you have a choice.
I for one do not like the .30 carbine ammunition prices and wish some one would make a carbine look alike in 7.62X39 or .223.
