Ruger 77 value

I cannot seem to find a value in any of my blue books...

 Its an older, tang safety, M77 in caliber 358 Winchester. I place its condition at 85 - 90%.

I am sure its worth more that a run of the mill 308 or 30/06 (350 ish) But cannot find anywhere it says that!!!

I've had one. Late prices seem to be lower than what I expected. I beleive I remember one going for in the $500 range. Ruger is releasing the round in the new 77s again, tho. I don't think the early .358s are going to go for as much as they once did. Is yours a dogleg bolt handle version, or a later run? There was more than one special run of .358s.
Great round. I really enjoyed mine for 12 years til I sold it to an elk hunter that just HAD to have it.

At best ,Ruger Model 77 caliber value added considerations may have once been a footnote in the gun blue books. But with Ruger introducing the limited runs and now the caliber in a new rifle again, you may expect no additional value over the previously standard calibers. I did sell an older version like yours (a .30-06) several years ago to a fellow who was convinced the tang safety models are better than the current rifles. He made a generous offer. I did this carrying the rifle around at a local gun show.

I arranged the purchase of this rifle some ten years back for my uncle. With the condition that's if he ever sells it, i get first right of refusal.  Now he is thinking of selling. I just want to make a fair offer. Its in same condition as he purchased and has been fired VERY little.

I was thinking $400, but want to be fair and cannot seem to find any specific pricing in either of the three BB I have here.


Any help would be much appreciated!!

I would suggest googling and finding Ruger Model 77 rifles for sale. As an example, following is one site I just obtained that way.

We have Flaydermann's Guide in our library, as well as several others. Perhaps a trip to your local library may be needed.
Frankly, $400 seems quite fair, but that is between you and your uncle.
