chaulk eye
« on: April 09, 2007, 03:16:47 AM »
Chaulk eye? Has anyone heard of this? My 4 mo old blue-tick has very light blue eyes, she sees fine but was told/read that you cant register them for shows or hunts because it doesn't fit the criteria for blue-ticks. Any truth to that or anything negative about the eye color? She is a full blood hound, we sent off for her UKC paperwork about a week ago. My guess is that she wouldn't be papered if she wasn't full blood or is blue eyes just a genetic thing? I cant wait to see her pedigree as we are going to breed her with my male who has an incredible pedigree......Thanks Eric

Here is the description off of the UKC site:  EYES: Should be rather large, set wide apart at the stop, round. Dark brown, not lighter than light brown in color. Lids of eyes should be firm and close, without excess third eyelid showing, (no drooping).

Check it out here:  http://www.ukcdogs.com/RegistrationBreeds.htm

So what I gather, please correct me if I'm wrong but that just disqualifies the from bench shows and not hunting in UKC events. Thank you....Eric
