Encore hammer extention

I have the medium Talley one-piece rings and base combo on my Encore 25-06. I only have about .5" between the hammer and my 4.5-14x40 Buckmaster scope. I don't really want to go with the higher rings with the smaller 40mm scope. How have the hammer extentions worked for you Encore guys? What brand are you using, and have they caused any misfires? Hammer extensions on Encores are known to cause problems; not recommended!

Hammer extensions on stock Encores very often cause misfires.  The Encore hammer spring is too weak.  Buy a hammer extension and a stronger hammer spring.  The very best hammer extension is available from that place we do not mention on this site.   So is the spring.

I have an Encore, I had an extension on it. I started to have misfires (with or w/o the extension. I found the hammer to be tweaked. I replaced the hammer and never got to fire a shot, I sent it to T/C and had the Pro-Hunter hammer put on. No more clearance problems now. It is setting here on the desk boxed up and ready to be shipped off to get a trigger job done.

I have a hammer extension, started getting misfires.  Then I got a stiffer hammer spring, no more misfires.

Do all the comments on misfires with hammer extensions apply to the ones made of aluminum as well as the steel ones?

Another problem associated with the hammer extension is, it weakens the hammer and can cause the hammer to break off. The hammer is hollow underneath and is prone to damage from being over tightened.

I had bad luck with hammer extensions, misfires in my pistol, worked OK with muzzleloader. May send it to TC to get the swinghammer installed.

Had two hammer extensions on my Encore.  Neither was any good.  Finally bought one from that place.  It is held on with three screws and works great.

Has anyone tried to buy a Pro-Hunter hammer from TC and installed theirself. It would cost over a $100 in shipping round trip on the frame for UPS from this part of Alaska.

T/C will not sell you the hammer. It has to be factory installed.
