? about production ammo?

Not sure if this is the proper place or not but thought you guys would probly be able to give me some insight. What is 1st production run ammo all I really know for sure is it's produced 1st but what might I expect from it pro and con. Thanks Kurt

Don't know.  Who advertises their ammunition as being first run?  That may help to pin it down.  My first guess, and it's a guess only is that it's a reference to their product not being remanufactured (reloaded).

I bought 500 rounds 10 boxes of 50 17machII Hornady and on the plastic boxes it is stamped "1st production run ammo" and was just curious as to what that really means ammo seems to shoot fine. Got it thru an auction and ad didn't mention any thing about 1st run only paid $50 for it and that included shipping haven't been able to find any more though. Kurt

Saw this 1st Production Run Ammo on a GunBroker auction:


In manufacturing, 1st production run generally means the first run of a new product and if bugs need to be worked out then
the 2nd production run follows.
In this case, with ammo, your guess is as good as mine. Maybe the 1st production run of a new design???

It might not be the best answer............this was the reply when I asked about 123 gr VMAX on deer, "I guess that they think the bullet is a little light but you could kill a deer with a well placed shot.  Sometimes they get shot with a 22 Long Rifle."

But someone will answer sooner or later.  It took 2 weeks to get that winner.
