plinking with round balls???

I'm wanting to pull out the ML plink around a bit.  What kind of experience have you all had with using the inexpensive round balls and patches for this?  I currently shoot a 220 grain bullet and have no idea how the weight of the round balls might compare.  Please share your experiences.  I've got almost 1/2 a pound of Pyrodex RS to play with so thought this would be a good way to do it.  Thanks, Greg

In a modern inline, try starting with a real low charge (40-50gr) and working up.  Usually you can find something that works.  RBs are very light and will skip the rifling if pushed too fast in a fast-twist barrel hence the low charge starting point.

Also, patch thickness(tighter fit) is important when shooting PRB in a fast twist. In my inline I can get decent accuracy all the way up to 70 or 80 grains of 777 when I use a .022 patch. The load is tight but no tighter than a tight sabot round. Last time I tried it I was getting about 1" groups at 50 yards. I need to try it again and see how fast they are going now that I have a chrony.
