Traditions Pursuit vs Pursuit LT
« on: April 06, 2007, 03:55:55 AM »
I was wondering why Traditions  discontinued making the steel framed Pursuit in favor of the Pursuit LT with the alloy frame?  Were there problems with the steel frame Pursuit?

Knowing Traditions, it was to sell you a cheaper gun for the same price.  (I've owned two of their guns, greatly displeased with the overall quality of both, so I'm not just blowing smoke).

The Pursuit Pro has not been discontinued. The Pursuit, which was a steel frame version of the Pursuit LT alloy frame mode has been discontinued.  The Pursuit was listed in the bargain bin section of the Traditions website starting at $209 but not any longer.  It is listed as a discontinued item in Midsouth Shooting Supplies with a sale price of $169.  I was wondering if anyone has any personal experience with the discontinued Pursuit and any problems that might have led to it's being discontinued.  Thanks in advance.

I had an early Pursuit LT and it was terrible from a trigger standpoint. I understand they improved them in later versions of the rifle. I took mine apart and improved the trigger from "terrible" to "just bad". I traded the gun for an NEF Huntsman. One thing I disliked about the Pursuit was it was difficult to keep the firing pin clean. Maybe I just used the wrong 209 primers?? The action is not easy to disassemble. I could not imagine why they would discontinue the model that makes the most sense. The aluminum receiver was prone to accuracy loss after many shots.
