How tight must the forend be?

 How tight do the screws need to tightened on the forend for a contender?
If I can make it go bang it can't be that hard to do.

I thought about this myself.I just tighten the back screw snug then the front one on the Encore. My Contenders have a hanger-bar so I just snug the one screw that holds the foend on.

T/C says just snug.  If you tighten them very tight you will eventually have the dovetailed pieces for the screw fall out.  I got this answer when I called to get more of the dovetailed pieces because I had 2 fall out.

If your screws are too long, tightening them will push the dovetail locks out of the cuts in the barrel.  I just snug mine up.

Reloader - here's how I "do it". I take 3-4 nylon washers, stack them into the forearm where the screws come through. The washers are a little thicker then a piece of paper (the one's you can't quite pick up when they fall on the floor), they are actually the shims used for archery cams. This does two things 1) you can't over-tighten the forearm screws, and 2) you now have a "floated" barrel, which may or may not improve your shooting. Just my $.02, Good Luck!
