You will love your 1895. For factory loads, it all depends on what you want to do with it. I shoot the Winchester silver box 300 gr hollow points a lot. They shoot great in my .45/70, the recoil is not bad, and they are readily available and inexpensive. Not a bad round for whitetails or hogs. Federal also makes a couple of 300 gr loads but they are sometimes hard to come by. Remington has a 300 gr and a 405 gr. I have not shot the 300 gr Remmy. The 405 has mild recoil but a rainbow trajectory. For big game hunting you will want to try the Hornady leverevolution 325 grain rounds. Other than that there are some premium loads available at much higher prices if you really want to get fancy. Enjoy, Rev
