Survivior 308???????????

  I have been out of the loop for weeks and decided to hunt again goats and deer. Has anyone used the Survivor as a primary hunting rifle. I think I'll top it off with a trophy 3-9x40 or the Mueller 3-10x44. I use 150's of some flavor for both animals. I'm not for Elk this year simply because of an upcoming operation for a herniea
I have been fighting for many years. I hope  i can chase Elk again  next year. Thanks for your help. Jess

Have you checked your PMs since ya last checked it? The Survivor has no recoil pad, Jess!

hi, i have a survivor in .308 it works really well for deer hunting . the recoil is very managable to me even without a recoil pad. it may be because of the pistol grip stock. popped a doe with mine two days after i bought it.....150 grain winchester power point dropped her in her tracks.

Tim not at all I am just posing a question just in case the Ultra Comp didn't work out. The lack of recoil pad will take the survivor out of the equation.Is the Comp is in the picture? If so this thread is moot. The 270 is my favorite cal besides the 6.5x55 so I still am very interested. Jess

Yes, the  270 UC is very much alive and well, did ya get my last PM? It's already shooting 1½-2",, and I'm sure it will get even better when I shoot the rest of the loads for it, I ran out of time on the last range trip, didn't get to shoot all of em.

Sorry, no 6.5x55, but I'm having a custom barrel made into a 260 Remington as soon as I can get the backordered Shilen blank!!
