Explosion at the Glock plant Monday
« on: July 16, 2003, 02:29:59 AM »
In the local (Atlanta) news there was a report of an explosion at the Glock plant in Smyrna Monday. 3 people were hurt, one severely. One was lifeflighted out with life threatening injuries. The explosion was apparently from powder residue from spent shells used to test guns, and the damage was contained in one room. Investigation continues. How does the powder from spent shells explode?

Danny.   There is an acumulation of unburned powder on the floors of indoor firing ranges that in time could ignite. It happened in a range that I am familiar with. In this instance it produced a  quick flash of flame.  Ranges should be clean and ventilated.  Horsefeathers.
