Civil War and Cannon Show Mansfield Ohio, May 5&6, 2007
« on: January 18, 2007, 02:18:29 PM »
This is a Civil War show that dedicates a pole building to cannons and etc.  The Paulson brothers, Lutz of 'AOP', Matt Switlik, both with their books available for purchase and several of cannon makers and sellers listed on the board. There are many smaller cannon makers selling smaller cannons & mortars, 3/4" to a couple of inches.

There is a display of many cannons of the CW era on display outside the building. Twice a day the large cannons have a firing demonstration. The largest head turner is the demonstration of the six horse hitch with it's full sized cannon & limber at a gallop.

At least that was I saw the last time I was there in 2005, 2004.  I will be going this year  and I travel from Wisconsin.

Cpt Ed,

Mike and I are going to be there; just received our trade table reservation last month.  We will be displaying our 100 Pdr. Parrott Rifle, Model 1861 on the Iron, Seacoast Center-Pintle, Barbette Carriage, Model 1859.  We had hoped to also have the nearly finished 7 Inch Treble-Banded Brooke Rifle on the Wood, Seacoast, Center-Pintle, Barbette Carriage with us as well, but it won't quite be ready.  Ah well, it will be something new for next year.  We are REALLY looking forward to being there.  We have heard and read in the Artilleryman that this is the ONE SHOW you don't want to miss!  Stop by and say hello.

Regards,

Mike and Tracy

Mike and Tracy,

I would be most happy to stop by and say hello. I am traveling up from Florida with two intermediate stops in eastern and western Pennsylvania before the show. I have my confirmed overnight reservations at the Knights Inn just across the street, I am told, from the Richland County Fairgrounds. I plan on being at the show on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This is my first time to visit such a show and you are right it is the one to see if you love Muzzle Loading Artillery.

See you there.

Cpt Ed.

Is this a two day show?  I would like to venture to the east with my cannons some time soon.  A long drive from Idaho.  Apx how many people attend the show.  Who do I talk to to see about tables.

Sure wish this show wasn't so darn far away from Colorado.  I have been thinking of thinning out my collection of mortars and cannons.  Oops, sorry I didn't get the powder can in for scale.  Now old DD will be on my case....These for example:

Mike and I sure hope to meet all you guys at this show.  Having never been here before we don't know the building layout at all.  Our table is in the "artillery bldg" where ever that is.  Guardsgunner has a good idea here, maybe we could all meet somewhere.  How about the cafeteria/food barn at Noon on Saturday??  Someone familiar with the building layout needs to chime in here and specify a place.

Blaster, your correct, DD will be on your case, but not for the reason you think.  He doesn't really give a hoot about the missing can, it's the adjective that you used to describe his age that's your problem.  heh heh heh.......heh heh heh ( I'm going for my best "Hank Hill" laugh here.)

If Dominick makes it, maybe one of you guys could distract him for a few minutes so I can crawl under that 1/2 scale French 75 and scope out the   "Recoil/Return to Battery"  mechanism.  I just love his action video.  I have watched it about 25 times now!  Rick; bring them all, every one of them.  There are twenty motels within 15 miles and its getting very hard to find a room.  Does that tell you something?

Best Regards to you all,

Mike and Tracy

Because of the time-zone differences DD is most likely not on-line at the moment, so let me fill in and say that you CAN retake and re-post the pictures WITH the powder can for scale.

Is it mandatory for those who are selling to be dressed in period clothing ? Also, how much are the tables, and are there any spots left ? I've not been to any of this type of show and i'm wondering just how much a Friday night thru Sunday afternoon would cost a person to bring his wares from about 4 hours away. Easy drive from Fort Wayne, Ind. Just need to swing the money.

I think it is 75.00 a table for the weekend. Doubt if they have tables left but it wouldn't hurt to call. they do have an area outside  of the artillery bldg. where some cannons ect. are displayed

Got permission from the head of the household. ;)  So, I have my flight arranged. I'm looking forward to seeing it for the first time.
