Day time coon
« on: May 18, 2007, 02:14:59 PM »
I've been checking out tons of coon tracks in my urban environment. Today I saw a big coon working the river. It was cool to see where he traveled and what he investigated. I wondered why he was out in the afternoon at two o'clock. Does this indicate a large population or mating season?

I was told if you see a raccoon out in the day time there's probably something wrong with it. I'm not sure if this is fact or not though.

That's usually true. As a kid, There was one out by the road looking dazed / confused, we figured it may have had rabies. This coon looked normal and healthy and was following a trail by the river as if he was foraging.
