which bullet?
« on: April 14, 2007, 08:18:49 AM »
hey pards
im in the process of obtaining a 308 handi
what bullet weight does the bull barrel seem to like best?
i had a survivor a couple of years ago and although i shot a little 6pt buck at 215 yards
i never got around to experimenting with different weights on paper
has anyone already done the leg work for me?
thanks

I've only shot one load in my 308 bull barrel, but it really likes the 168gr TSX Match hunting bullet with a mid level load of Varget. I need to work on forend pressure, but it definately shows a preference for this load, the lower 3 shots were one load, the upper 3 shots is .5gr more powder, all shot back to back in about 4 minutes or so at 100yds.

Cabela's has some on sale here...I just got home a little while ago from the new store here in St.Louis...You might find them cheaper else where..but I picked up some of the 168 A-max bullets for $24 per hundred..You can find them a little cheaper at Mid Souths..http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item.asp?sku=0000330452.....and at Mid Way...and Mid Way has some nice Berger's as well for just a few dollars more..http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=133954
