Price for a used 45/70?
« on: April 14, 2007, 04:04:56 AM »
I have a local auction coming up that lists a handi in 45/70, an NExxxx number which would make it a 1990 manufacture date. From the pics wood looks a little dinged up on the stock and its listed as "some rust pitting around the trigger", but I haven't handled the firearm yet myself to judge.

What might be a ballpark value at an auction? What would be a good price?

thanks.

Joe

Try to get your hands on it before bidding starts. If its in descent shape Id go to 160 or so. If its an ejector barrel ,maybe $175. Those barrels are gunna be hard to find IMO

I 'm thinking around 130 would be a good deal for here...NEF firearms aren't too popular judging from the few I've seen here and the remarks made by local gunshop owners.  This particular auction has had Handi shotguns go for very good deals in the past too.

The 45-70 handy is one of the rifles you never hear complaints about. If in fair shape I would bid 150 -175 .It will be an ejector model and stocks are easy to replace. They are very easy to reload for, very powerful and accurate to boot. Whats not to like?Everyone needs a 45-70.

thanks for the input guys.

Ammo is a little pricey though since I don't reload.  I am not sure if this is worth doing for me or not now.
