Rear Sight change on Win-94
« on: April 06, 2007, 06:40:25 AM »
I am having trouble removing the rear sight from a Winchester-94 30-30. Ant ideas, I've been adding penetrating oil to it hoping it might make a difference but no luck.
It is an older style rear sight. Is the dovetail tapered, if so which way should it be driven. Towards loading gate side or opposite loading gate side.

Thanks for any help.

Towards the loading gate. Tap it from the left to loosen, tap from the right to tighten.

Lefty...Loosey: Righty...Tighty!

Take care to inspect the area of the rear sight above the barrel dovetail for a screw head, as some rear sights are secured from being moved, windage-wise, until the screw is loosened.
