Handi Rifles caused it!

One of my tag lines says"45/70....almost a religion".I have to blame Handi rifles for causing this.
At a gun show yesterday the devil made me buy a Marlin lever action 1895SS in 45/70.
I completely blame Handi Rifles for this contagious infection of fascination with big bore rifles.This makes three 45/70's.

Nice acquisition Stan:

Just as there are Handi-holics...so too are there Marlin-addicts...and it can get expensive to say the least...so your really in trouble now :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Congrats on the Marlin...it's a fine rifle and I am sure you'll enjoy it immensely...I've always liked all of my Marlins...and have owned a bunch of them in 45-70...Here's my favorite Marlin right now...It's the new XLR in 45-70.. and the one below it is my 338-06 A-square Ultra...see what I mean... :D :D :D

I bought an XLR like Mac's in 45-70. It isn't the devil that makes us buy them, it's our 'guardian angel' that makes us do it.

Same here.... started with a H & R Sikari, went to a TC pistol 16" then to a Marlin Lever......... dam I love that round!

Mike,
        I have thought the same thing, but it seems the .45-70 does everything the .500 S&W does, only better.
Please help me justify sending my receiver in for the new barrel, I just can't come up with anything. Maybe Quick can help?

Reasons for a 500 S&W:

1. You can spend a lot of money on new dies, bullets, and brass.

2. You can get frustrated at trying to get the perfect load for a caliber you are have no experience with.

3. You can scratch your head coming up with reasons that this caliber has something that no other caliber has, so that you can convince all of us to buy one.

4. (To paraphrase the Dodge Hemi ad) "Because its a 50."
