What's my next step.....
« on: January 10, 2003, 09:10:58 PM »
Ok I know the furry SOB's are there. I was sittin' in my deer stand this evening when just before dark I heard two or three short barks followed by a long howl, with that sequence being repeated four or five times in a row. I could hear short high pitched barks from several different directions answering the howler. That loud mouthed howler was close maybe 250 yds but it was clear and cold so he sounded more like he was in my front pocket. I've got the home built E-Caller, several tapes, a couple of mouth calls, a ruger ranch rifle and a couple of boxes of 55gr psp's, some good camo (a 3D suit) along with five deer carcases that I plan on putting out. Just not sure how and when I should set up on these critters. I know there hunting the fields adjacent to where the calling came from. I found what I believe are yote' tracks in the road that runs through the field a few days ago and I have heard 'yote barks in that area before. It all seems like it's going to be easy but I have my doubts. I still plan on giving it a try though.

Frog :D
Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time....ES

FROG I have a major power line running thru my place and we shot alot of deer and coyotes both in the clearings of the power line, what I would do is find a place where I could dump and watch from downwind within range early in the am so that they the ones that didnt find anything to eat during the night would be in a hurry to come in.  Good hunting :D   JIM
