Help.   The s/n on my 1873 Trapdoor Carbine is 4507.  How does this work with the date of mfg listing?

That's a good question, my guess is that they were a limited edition, that's the number in the series. If you look at other posts in this forum on the trapdoors, you'll see links to other sources of info on them that may lead you to a source of mfr dates. A internet search would also be advised. ;)

 I'm probably a little dense.....can you  explain what you mean by "that's the number in the series"?   I do believe these were a limited edition.

Yeah, that one is the 4,507th one made, just a guess. :D
