Imagin you guys if I had as may Handi's as Tim I could be in a carvers heaven recarving and recheckering all those stocks. Perhaps several years of work, if I was looking for work

I am having my eyes fixed with lens implants which I hope will improve my vision so I can checker again. Some of the European target rifles have stippeled grips
this makes a very attractive alternate for checkering.

The H&R lam stocks are great to remodel and come out very nice.

Fred, hope those implants work out good for ya, maybe we can trade a turkey hunt for a nice custom stock set!!!

Tim,

I just have to ask you this question....? Is there a caliber that is/has been made in the handi that you do not or have not owned? I showed my wife the picture and she just gave me the "there is no way in heck" look.

Navylawdog

My wife gives me that look all the time, fortunately, she's easy on me!! ::) There are a few I don't have, 22Lr, 22Jet, 7x57, 7.62x39, 44Mag and 450Marlin. I Have a frame in for a .444Marlin and 45 Colt carbine right now. I had a 357Max, but had it rechambered to 35 Remington, my 280 is an Improved version now. I still have brass and dies for the .280, thinkin on getting another one, I have two SB2 and one SB1 frame with no barrels on em, I think I need some more barrels for em!! ;D

Dale, when the hunger pangs start bothering you, just go handle the Handis and you'll forgot all about food, shelter, electricity and all that other unimportant stuff!!! ;D

Tim,

I can't believe that with all those rifles you don't have a .22 L.R. barrel! It does sound like you need some more barrels to go with the frames though.

The 22Lr doesn't really excite me, I have several 17hmrs and a 17M2, their accuracy just shines in comparison, and I don't shoot enough to worry about the cost. I do have a couple other rimfires in 22Lr, so a Sportster 22Lr hasn't been a priority, at least not enough to get one unless I stumble on a good buy someday. :D

Given time Tim will have every configuration of every barrel ever made by H&R. If you give him more time after that he will have every caliber that you can convert from the ones offered now to another caliber or inproved. He still has a long way to go before he is finished. Then he will start on the CVA'S.

Dale's right, there's no end to this madness, I've already ventured into another custom Handi, a 260 Remington...

Tim,

I know what you mean by that. I haven't gotten to shoot the .17HMR yet (still want one) but I have a .17M2 and you would have to pay a lot of money to get a .22 to shoot better than it did right out of the box. Now I just need to figure out what other barrels to get for my handi when I get back from cruise.

Dale,

You will have to let us know how that hunt turns out for you. I have always wanted to hunt ground hogs but time is something that I don't have much of.

Yea I know what you mean. When I came home today I asked if my 204 barrel came. She said what barrel. I said the one I told you about last week. I told her to look for it tomorrow. What she don't know is I came home last week and she was not home and I checked the mail and the barrel was there then. I got one buy her because I have another on the way.

Well My 204 fluted barrel came today and boy  am glad I bought that 30-06 on Sunday now. It had a good amount of play on my other frame but it locks up perfect to the 30-06 frame. I guess it was just meant to be.

I don't find it funny to cheat the wife and kids out of much needed money to buy guns and barrels of questionable use.

Stimpy,
This is good advice. I've been married 23 years, and I just figured this one out. Old habits die hard, but so far so good.

Just to be clear I have never cheated my wife or child out of money. The bills are caught up for the first time this year and I am all ways buying them things. Besides that she new when things got better this spring that I was going to buy guns to replace the ones I had to sell this past winter.

Dale,

I am with you man. I am pretty sure I have been reading the same thread as everyone else has been and at no point did Dale ever say that because he bought two barrels and only told his wife about one that now he didn't have any money. Maybe his wife is like most men's wives (mine included) and just wouldn't be understanding as to why he felt it necessary to buy two barrels instead of just one. Just my 2 cents worth. I think that was pretty smooth.  ;)

Cascadedad,

I know what you mean! Then there are their nails. Then how many clothes do women buy without telling their husbands? I know my mom used to buy all kinds of stuff without my dad knowing about it. He is getting her back now though. He is always buying a new gun or trading! ;D

Nails........  hair............  what about all their @#$%^&*    SHOES!!!!!!

When she asks why I need one, I ask her what does need have to do with anything? I want one! what other reason matters???

gun control people ask the same question  "why does someone NEED an AR style rifle" etc etc.
whoever dies with the most amount of guns wins!   I want to win!!
besides,

Who are we to deprive all those gun manufactures of their hard work

Mogley,

You know what you are absolutely right! I had totally forgotten about the stupid shoes. Who in the world needs that many shoes? Then all they do is complain about how badly they hurt when they wear them. Then they never wear them again. At least a gun that doesn't shoot quite up to expectations can be sold or traded off for another gun that shoots better.

Then there are hard working Americans out there working hard to make some guns so they can make a living and give me something to do so why wouldn't I support them? In fact maybe I should go by a Bushmaster so I can support my Mainers! ;)
