Mosin Nagant 91/30 at Gander Mountain
« on: April 17, 2007, 01:08:19 PM »
I saw these  the local Gander Mountain for $149.  I saw these at the store and I thought about it for a second.  I picked up one of the M44's for $112 and it's a decent rifle inside 100 yards and I couldn't see getting the same thing with a longer barrel.  Anybody a big fan of these rifles and have one that they like?

I've got one. I like it well enough and my son the historian loves it. Depends on what's important. We don't separate the history from the gun. Our 91/30 was made in Russia in 1941. Virtually impossible not to be a combat rifle. Shoots well enough for what it is. If you just want a shooter and already have a Moisin, I'd say there's no point in a second one for you.

Nothing wrong with having more than one
"great shooting and Powerful" rifles...
Most of the folks I know have several !
With things going like they are with the Politicians and Anti-gun folks,
I would buy up a decent stock of ammo too,,,
It will be extremely expensive after the Democrats take the Presidency.
Imports of any firearms and ammunition will most likely stop....

91/30's on sale in Oregon for 89.99.  I have a nice one built in Tula in 1925.  Shoots minute of deer at 200yds.  I like the long ones better than the shortys.

For whatever reason the M44 I have gets extremely hot faster than any other rifle I've owned.  I know I don't exactly let the barrel cool down between shots with this rifle but it still seems like it gets pretty hot faster than anything else I have.

My Enfield No3 Mk1* does the same thing .
Shoot it a few times in cold weather and the barrel smokes.
