i'm setting out to collect all military and sporting rifles chambered in .303 british. so far the ones i can think of are the lee-metfords the lee-enfield series, winchester model 95, the martini-enfield, the ross and the globco 555. did i miss any? and what is the approximate value of a martini-enfield?

you can pay as little or as much as you want for an ME. I have an ME-AC III that I paid $100 for, but had to add another $100 worth of parts to make it work.

I have seen them recently for as little as $300 and as much $1700.

These are all US$. Don't know what they cost up your way.

ME are out there and still reasonalbe compared to the older brother 577/450.

You seem to have missed the P14, but I think there were a number of British sporting rifles chambered for the .303, and if memory serves, one Mauser.

Checkout your local pawnshops and gun shows, I think it was in the big gun show in mass. here there has been sporterized 303's for around $75 to $100 and not bad looking either. I'm kind of sorry I didn't grab it now. At Aim they had both 303 plastic sporter stocks on sale for $39. Sorry to talk about sporterized 303's but I like to save the good/collectable ones and shoot the lesser value guns. I'm afraid of hurting/damaging the better ones. But there has been alot of 303 stuff popping up lately here. Lastweek I passed on a P14 in 303 for $200 I went back and it was gone. Most of the time I grab it right away when I see it but this time I didn't. Like i said seek and you shall find!!!!! BigBill

IF you are going for Enfield 303's you need an ME, ME AC and an ME CC. In the .303 Metfords you need an MM, MM AC and MM CC. Getting all those together should keep you broke for a while.

Hope you have deeeeep pockets. I'm positive that every major English maker has made 303 caliber rifles. Including the hand made customer fitted type.

i thought that was .303 andi've been trying to figure out what rifle that was!! at first i thought it was a ross sporter but it wasn't a turn-bolt and the year was wrong

come this friday my collection starts in earnest!! :grin: i take delivery of 2 unissued no1 mk3's with the cosmoline still in the barrels. i traded a home made skeet thrower with one of my technical teachers and he also has a few 1903 ross rifles and a p-14. i plan to keep one and maybe see what i can swap the other for.

Indonesia converted a lot of their Dutch Mannlicher rifles to .303 British after WW2,I dont know if they were rebores or rebarreled.
The number 5 Rem. rolling block was also chambered in .303 British.
