I know there is a wish list but I think this goes one step farther. This is something I really believe we could bug them into doing. They have barrel blanks and they have chamber reamers. It's not a stretch to get this going. We just need to prove our intrest.

If you answer yes would you please post how many and in what calibers? If the answer is no that's okay. Everyone is titled to there opinion. I just know I'm right.  ;D   :D  ;D

Please bare with me here. I have alot of faith that if we show them we mean it they will get going on it. I'd even go so far as to say I'd put the money up before they got it going.

PLEASE don't consolidate this with the wish list.

PLEASE don't dilute this with other ideas, or calibers they do not currently chamber. This needs to stay on topic and simple to show intrest in one specific thing.

Thank you all,
Scootter

PS, I would buy no less than three barrels in the first order. 204 Ruger, 22-250, and .308 Rem. Like I said, I would be willing to put the money up before hand if they agreed to get going.

I personally want Stainless steel bull barrels in .204, .22-250 and .308 Rem. The .204 and 22/250 are offered in blued BB but not Stainless BB. I am being picky. I don't like Blued guns if I'm gonna use them heavey.

I figure others out there might like SS/BB in the cal of their choice also.

There have been numerous polls like this in the past 3 years,  have fun with it, but don't expect any results. ;)

I don't know why I can't give up on this. Maybe it's because it's so simple it's stupid. I would get what I want, They would make money... I am not seeing a downside. I know I've said it before but I'm gonna say it again.

1. They already chamber barrels for the calibers I want.
2. They have SS/BB blanks on hand.
3. All they have to do is put reamers to barrel blanks and it is done. It doesn't even qualify as "Custom".

It's not like I'm asking for a 600 Nitro express, SxS, double pistol, with half octagon barrels and ejectors. I'm asking them to combine options they already have listed but do not currently list together.

I just can't give up!

Scooter:

Folks have been doing this very same thing for years...and quite frankly have grown...well...tired. Only a few wanted extractor barrels...now...this is all they are going to do...Since I know for a fact they actually read what is put on this forum...it seems funny to me...sorta like they have selective hearing...If I told you how much I've spent on getting a 26" 270...or a 26" 338-06 A-Square...you would call me nuts...or how much Quick has spent on his..or his 405 Winchester..or others who have gone done this road before ya...It's not the good folks at NEF that are calling the shots here bro...it's a bunch of old stuff shirts at Marlin who for all appearances seems that they could care less about what we want..and more about what they want...and that is their bottom line $$$$$... Does it make sense not to offer longer barrels...nope...Does it make sense not to offer both extractors and ejectors...nope...Does it make sense not to offer all of the calibers in stainless...nope...Does it make sense not to offer a full stainless receiver...nope...Does it make sense not to update their equipment when it breaks or wears out...Nope...Most of their decisions don't make sense to anyone except them...and their accountants...and that partner.. has been the problem all along... They are offering the 444 again real soon...and the 45LC too...They killed off the 35 Whelen and are blaming shoddy ammo for doing so...and they have some real Q/C issues of late with more & more barrels...that up until very recently have been excellent shooters...namely the 280 Rem & the 450 M...I honestly think they are shooting themselves in the foot...and that is a real shame...

Good Luck on your quest...I wish you better luck than those before ya..

I have voted yes. I can't tell you what barrels I would like in stainless at this point in time but I would like to think that they would listen to the true Handi fans. Like Mac said they are shooting them selves in the foot. The way I see it is the customer is always right. We are not asking them to rechamber barrels that they are not allready set up for but to give us more options.

I too have voted yes, I wand a short 45/70 in SS for when I get to hunt in the rain back home. But heck I would pop for one in 17hmr just to run a 17 Remington reamer in it!   ;D ;D

Mac,

I forget that H&R is run by attorneys and accountants. For some stupid reason if figured the people calling the shots in the gun business might be shooters.

S&W has their laywer locks and funky 2 peice barrels. Winchester droped their lever guns. Marlin aint doing anything real impressive lately. S&W and Marlin are also picking up smaller makers and ruining them too boot.

So it apears that our worst ememy is not the gun grabbers, it's the gun makers. They'll turn us away before they ever outlaw guns.

Since this is how it is then I can say I've bought my last Handi. Quality is going down hill so why chance it when I can buy a Savage and get what I want while not worrying about the quality problems. I'll move over to T/C for my single shot needs. The quality is well worth the price and I don't have to fight against ignorance and stupidity to get what I want.

It is a disheartening to read over the Wish List and other posts about the wants of Handi owners, and then see exactly how many of them have been fulfilled :-\

Many had been aching for a 35 Whelen to be offered again as this isn't a caliber offered in many rifles, not to mention in one thats easy on the wallet. And they decide to offer it, in a 22" barrel despite many wanting it back in the 26" form, but they offered it non the less. But the lack of QC evidently made for many unhappy new Whelen owners and now it's gone.....keep in mind not even a year after it was put out! :-X Same can be said for the 7.62x39. And why so many 44Mag Handi owners are ripping their hair out trying to get decent accuracy, while the bore is over sized.

There are many many happy Handi owners -including me- and NEF/H&R has produced some very good barrels.
'But how long can a company work with wore out equipment and try to produce a quality product?

It would be nice if every employee of a firearms, optic, and ammo company enjoyed shooting and actively did so.
Could you imagine what would be available then?

Scooter:

It disheartens me greatly to see the Quality of work coming out on the NEF's of late...especially when I know just how damn good they can be when everything is right with them.I've had some of the best shooting rifles in 30-06..243..25-06..280..308..45-70..30-30...and most folks here know just how good the 17's..204's..and the 223's can be as well...There are enough of these rifles floating around to be able to get some sweet shooting ones..and if you like the rifle..then get one and wring it out...if it doesn't shoot..then send it in or trade it off...For the small amount of money you will have invested in the rifle..it isn't going to be too bad...and you still have a good chance of getting a properly bored/chambered/fitted rifle that will shoot accurately...Now..if you do go with the T/C-Encores...you will have a sizable amount of money invested...with no guarantee it will be any better...They have their own set of unique problems associated with that line...that's not to say you will get a lemon with them..but that you have just as good a chance to get a bad one....for a lot more money than buying a Handi...This I believe is a major part of the problem...new equipment and additional trained staff isn't cheap...and they are trying to keep the price point down where the guns are low in price...and are affordable to those who don't have a-lot of money to fork out..... This is all well in good...but one thing they got to realize about this approach...They can't do this  at the expense of quality...dependability..and accuracy... If folks are willing to buy them as they are..then...I don't see any changes...This makes it a catch 22 situation...and the only way I see it changing is for the cost of the rifle to increase...Hopefully things will change...and for the better and soon...They can be awesome little rifles that can shoot with the best of them when things are right with them..but they can be royal pains when things aren't...One good thing about about it...there is a ton of information here on how to make them better..if your willing...many have..and are glad they did..

The key thing most people fail to realize is that we are just a drop in the bucket when it comes to H&Rs sales , their bread and butter is the single shot shotgun , always has been and always will be . They are cheap to produce and cheap to sell with no accurcy issues , just point and shoot .

When you look at the numbers of rifles sold compaired the number of shotguns , we just don't mean that much in $$ to this company , as for the parent company of Marlin and NEF/H&R , their primary goal has never been to make guns , from a money stand point they use these as a way to shift money away from the IRS and into the shareholders hands .

In todays market the gun companies have been taken over by a bunch of people that do not shoot and have no desire to ever shoot , to this end , as long as they can use the numbers in their favor we will continue to see a drop in the quality of their products

Just my take on this thing .
