They are great guns for the money, it all depends on what you want it for. For hunting with shots out to 300-350 yards or so they are great. There are many prairie dogs that have fallen to Handirifles at 350 yards and beyond in the proper calibers, .223, .22-250, .204 etc. So a deer or antelpoe would be no problem at the same yardage in the proper caliber, .270, .280, 30-06, .308, 7mm-08 etc. I prefer the wooden stocks myself though. If you just want to impress people with how much your gun costs however you will have to go with something else, they are affordable, accurate, and reilible. They are American made with a great warranty and a customer service department that extends their written warranty even further, they are the best. Try one, you will like it. I do suggest a nice .280 with the 26" barrel and wooden stocks but that is my preference, you may need or want something a bit different, luckily they come in many variations and even more are available by mixing and matching parts from one to another, the configurations are virtually endless....<><.... :)

I agree with MSP Ret. I have 6 including two rimfires, three wood stock and three synthetic. The synthetic 30-06 has been my go to deer rifle for the past couple of years. I prefer tje synthetic stocks, but the Handi's are a little hard to come by around here, so I buy what is available. Never had to use customer service with any of mine, but I understand it is great.

Dont' forget that, even though the barrel & various parts are stainless, the springs and some other internal parts aren't.  I would get it bead blasted, Parkerized and then finished with GunKote by a reputable gunsmith.  You would have a gun you could drop IN the saltwater and not need to worry about having to flush it out immediately!  Is it hard to tell that I am very impressed with the stuff?  My Winchester 88 was treated that way (Black-T, precursor to GunKote) 15 years ago and has been up and down the mountains of SE Alaska every hunting season since then with no rust, even after being soaked all day in the rain and then left to drip-dry, or thrown in the bottom of the skiff with sea water sloshing back and forth over it.

I don't think the receivers are full stainless either...but...having a good coating put on them will certainly make them more rust resistant...I had my 26" 270 Ultra Cerra Coated by Oregunsmithing when he did the work on mine...and I like it a-lot

Mac. That is a great looking gun. Do you mind me asking what it cost to have it coated.

Wayne's cost is listed on his price list, see ceracote under metal finishing. I'm sure Ken2222 can answer that too!! ;D
