Finally ordered and received the scope I wanted for the new .223 barrel that also arrived this week. Got a Tasco 6X24X44 for $80 plus shipping and handling. While I haven't shot it yet I think I'm going to like the scope, it is called a Target/Varmint scope and has turrets on it so you don't have to remove caps to adjust the reticle. Also came with two sunshades, a short one and a long one.
I look at MSRP's with tongue in cheek, this one was listed at $180, but I found it at a couple other suppliers at $120-$150 so the price was good and it isn't re-manufactured either. Don't know if I can mention the supplier here so I'll skip that unless I hear differently.
Also checked the rate of twist on the new .223 barrel and found it is 1 turn in 9 inches, so probably wont stabilize 35-45 grain bullets as well as heavier ones. Really like this barrel so far, seems to lockup like a bank vault and very quietly. It's an extractor version.
Will be heading to the range to give the new barrel and scope a baptism Friday or Monday and will post the results. I did polish the bore with Flitz for about 1/2 hour, sure was rough the first few passes, but eventually smoothed out a lot.
