Had some fun today!
« on: May 05, 2007, 03:11:16 PM »
Today I had a great time shooting my Eli Whitney 1851 .36 cal. I bought it new when I was 17 (I'm 44 now).
My grandfather got bit by the black powder bug when I was 14 and after he had taken me shooting with his 1851 colt navy  I too was bitten. So now I am introducing  my son to "the bug" as well. He's 11 and while he is a little scared of the smoke and noise he liked it a lot.
This was my first time makin in smoke this spring. As far as how well we shot  well... I do need new glasses, and my son is only just starting out.
I've lurked here mostly since the " shooters" forum closed down a few years back. I've learned a lot and it has made shooting easier, and safer for me.
Thanks to all, Mark :) :)

I'm glad some people are able to get out and shoot. i haven't got the cash to buy a box of balls or the time to shoot.

I know what you mean lil hunter. Money is pretty tight for me too. It will take me some time to replace my ammo when its used up. Time however, I have a little more of if I plan well and get stuff done.
If you had the time and ammo what would you be shooting? I have  my .36 cal Whitney. My grandfathers old colt navy in .36( it has the squareback trigger guard) and three percussion pistols in .45cal. a CVA Kentucky, Colonial, and Tower. All my pistols are over 25 years old. I don't think they even make the Colonial,or the Tower pistols anymore.
I hope things get better for you soon.
Best wishes, :) Mark
