If you successfully deprimed at least one case, then they are boxer primers. You might have broken your pin by failing to have your case centered on the shell holder.

Yes, there are several brands (most, if not all, foreign manufactured) of cases that are berdan primed. Berdan primers are easy to identify by the two off-set flash holes.

I have reloaded cases marketed by PMC from both Korea and South Africa. Both had boxer primers and the brass has proven very satisfactory for reloading. That is not to say that they may have or have had another source of 223 brass with berdan primers. Always examine unfamiliar cases before attempting to reload.

By the way, berdan primed cases can be reloaded. Just need the proper equipment and a source of the replacement primers.

Most likely you got the same type of 223 PMCs that I have. They are military crimed and you really have to work them to deprime them then you will have to remove the military crimp. If I recall correctly the biggest problem was that the location of the primer holes was not uniform and I had to play with the deprimer to get it in the correct location.

I broke a decapping pin on my lee die. send it back to factory and they will send you a new one at no cost.
