Anyone recognize this bullet?
« on: May 05, 2007, 01:31:26 PM »
I found a bunch of .455"-.456" cast bullets at a garage sale, would like to size this bullet to .454", but need the correct top punch. It appears to me that it's made to accept a gas check. It has a ~.310" meplat and is .690" long, weighs 231grs. Can anyone tell me what it is?

Thanks,

Tim

Howdy,
It certainly appears to be a Lyman #452490. My second edition of the Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook has a picture of a bullet that weighs 230 grains when cast with #2 alloy. It requires a #424 top punch- the same as the #454424 Keith bullet uses.
