scope for a .357 handi ?

i was thinking about a simmons pro-diamond 4x from wally world .......$53.00  .  is this a good scope?

  I think the scope you spoke of I think is the one I put my 357 Maxie, has work out real good.
 mine pro diamond 4x shotgun scope. Best of luck Marv

I put a Tasco 2.5X shotgun scope on my Handy 357 and liked it so well I put one on my Marlin 1894 (44 MAG). It has a circle around the cross-hairs and I bought it at Wally world. I think they were in the $35 range. They seem to be holding up well. It does seem to be a bit heavy for no bigger than it is. But it does have nice eye relief I think in the 4.5" or 5" range.

If you want a 2½x scope, the Simmons 8-point is still on sale at CDNN for $30 shipped. It's not a bad little scope and should be a great little scope on the 357.

I have a Bushnell Banner 1.5-4.5 for mine. Real clear scope, but have yet to shoot it.

You .357 Maxie shooters/owners - What do you think the maximum effective range of that round is?  For whatever you shoot at?

100yds?

150yds?

perhaps only 75yds?

I've gathered some of my components (including 300rds of brass), but I'm still waiting to get my Handi barrel.

If the range on the Maxie is really limited to 150yds, 2.5X to 4X seems to me to be plenty of magnification.

Also, what do you fellas think is the absolute minimum length required for making the Maxie shoot to its potential?
