anyone own a Mauser i.e. 201 or similar?
« on: May 02, 2007, 04:29:39 AM »

I remember about 10-15 years ago give/take that there were some HIGH quality bolts made/sold that were made in sporter and a deluxe stocked model, 5 round clip I believe, and if not mistaken, front locking lug, either 2 or 3 lugs, quality as made in Germany.

Seen 1 or 2 since seeing them perhaps at a SHOT show in 92 in New Orleans.  I believe they were discontinued or no longer imported after 96-99 or thereabouts.  It also may have been a Kleingunther or something like that as I believe it was the same gun with a different name.

They would have been expected to be very accurate I imagine.

Thanks.

I have a Mauser 201 Luxus. It has a rosewood? forend tip and a very high polish on the metal. As is often the case with German guns, the quality of the wood used for the stock is disappointing. I've also seen a "Kleingunther" labeled field grade rifle locally that is identical except it has a birch stock and more of a matte finish on the metal.

I believe since my OP I read Voere in Austria mfg them, and the only complaint I have heard is that clips are hard to find.  It looked like a well made high quality steel actioned bolt, perhaps there are better alternatives?
