Tasco originally introduced the Super Sniper over ten years ago, but I don't think they make them anymore.  In some fashion, SWFA now handles manufacturing, at least in terms of providing the specs and marketing them in the US.  They farm the work out overseas but provide the specs by which the scopes are to be manufactured.  I think Bushnell was/is also involved, or at least handling some warranty claims.

Regardless of who makes/markets them, I won't own another one.  I've had experiences with three of them, two being 10x and one a 16x.  Both of the 10x scopes had internal floaters (debris on the lenses) and very mushy tracking that was almost non-repeatable.  Optically, they are OK, but nothing special.  The upside is they are built like a tank.

My shooting partner uses a 16X and it works very well.  We have shot the "box" and it has proved to be pretty good.  The optics are good..... not great but good.

Personally, and I forgot to mention this in the previous reply, I would buy a SF Nikon Buckmasters 4.5-14 over the Super Sniper.  The prices are about the same (Nikon may be cheaper), but the Buckmasters has much better glass and better adjustments.  Of course, the SS is a 30mm tube vs the 1" on the Nikon, which will provide a little more adjustment if you want to do some true long range shooting.

I have never looked through the Tasco Super Sniper, but I have looked through many Nikon scopes - Monarch, Pre-Monarchs, and Buckmasters.  As such, I can definately tell you that the Buckmaster is an awesome scope and I highly recommend it.

I've had the 10X Super Sniper.  It was a fine scope, although it is a bit massive, both in length and weight.  It's a 30mm tube, with the parallax adjustment on the eyepiece, although you can get the 10X in a side focus too.  There are several police snipers in my area that use them, as they are members of small departments and supply their own gear.  It is definitely a stout scope, I really felt that I could use mine to drive nails and not damage it.  I thought that the adjustments felt a bit mushy for a $300 scope.  For me, it was just too big.  I had it on a Savage 10FP with a 26" barrel and a heavier style stock, and still thought it looked too big.

The scope is made in Japan, probably either by Hakko or Light Optical Works, both of whom make a lot of the big name scopes that are made in Japan.  Tasco doesn't have anything to do with it now.  I am sure that I read that Bushnell took over the contract to supply the scope, even before Bushnell bought Tasco.  I thought the scope was very clear.  I've had a couple of Buckmasters and a couple of Monarchs, but not at the time I had the Super Sniper, so I can't say which was better.  I will say that there are several military guys as well as police SWAT members that post on SWFA's forum, and most of them have the Super Sniper on their personal rifles instead of the Leupold's, which to me is a pretty good endorsement.  But if you want unbiased opinions, you are better off doing a internet search instead of reading about it on SWFA's forum, almost everyone on it thinks that the Super Sniper is the best scope ever offered to the public.
