Taurus 24/7 or Ruger P94

I'm new to the Board.  So HI Everyone.  I'm also new to owning a semi-auto.  I have been talking to friends and the local gun store.  I'm looking for something that I can carry concealed in the woods and will still have some knock down power.  I probably will not be putting thousands of rounds through it, but I want something reliable.  I have heard good and bad things about both guns.  I like the feel of both guns as well.  I was looking for something in a .40 cal. 

If anyone can help me or guide me, I would appreicate it.

Welcome. Lots of good information here. I can't speak to the Taurus, but have had a P94 for years and will probably never get rid of it. It is the only .40 cal I still have, having traded off a couple of others including a Glock and a Taurus PT140. The P94 is not a great looking pistol, but mine has been flawless with any ammo I have ever used. This includes a lot of police dept. reloads. I know you will get all sorts of opinions, but I have never had a problem with a Ruger semi-auto. The grip also fits my hand very well. Mine can be kind of a pain to reassemble sometimes if I don't get the barrel link lined up exactly. The P-95 is much easier since it does not have the moving link. I have never traded off a Ruger, but cannot say that about most other brands.

Which to purchase, a Taurus or a Ruger?     I'm hurt that you would ask!!!   

buy the American-made, .40 S&W Ruger and never look back......including for the reasons posted by 'greenjeans'.   

or, better yet, if you really want something concealable, with power to spare, buy an SP-101 Ruger double-action revolver.   it's genuinely concealable and can be had with a 3" barrel in .357 magnum.
