DW 22 firing issue
« on: April 02, 2007, 05:39:49 PM »
I have a DW 22 cal revolver I just received from my late father in law. The trigger pull seems quite light, so I was careful when I squeezed off the first shot, all I got was a click, cocked the hammer again and gently squeezed the trigger again and click. So I tried a third time but this time I just pulled the trigger and it fired fine, and from then on as long as I pulled the trigger it would fire but the minute I went back to lightly squeezing the trigger it wouldn't fire. I'm thinking it has something to do with the transfer bar, but I'm not exactly sure how they work. I only live about 25 min from CZ-USA should I just bring it them and them look at it. or is it a simple fix I can do. thanks

If your that close to CZ, I'ld take it back to them. I've shot silouette for years, and what happens, is a shooter will lighten the spring to try and get a lighter trigger pull. Except that on revolvers, making them to light can get light hammer strike's. Or the spacer for the cylinder could have a bit to much play in it, and instead of the pin hitting the rim hard enough to set it off, the cylinder could be pushing forward just enough to not set off the primer. Either way, I'ld probably take it back and let one of their 'smith's look at it. We keep trying peace, it usually doesn't work!!Remember (12/7/41)(9/11/01) gypsyman

after looking at it some more. it appears as if the transfer bar is dropping out of the way. which causes the hammer to miss the firing pin. I'm dropping it off at DW in the AM. They'll let me know and quote me a price to repair it.

Well I got the news on my DW 22 it appears that there was so much trigger work done to the gun They suggested a new trigger/hammer assembly which will be in the neighborhood of $200 to get fixed, I also brought it to a gunsmith and he pretty much said the same thing. I guess the trigger was taken down, brought back up by welding material to the trigger itself, and taken back down again too far
