ATV FOR WIFE
« on: April 21, 2007, 12:13:16 AM »
I recently showed my wife a article about atv camping and she's willing to try it,only problem is we only have 1 atv between us so it looks like payment book time for me and my big mouth since I have a kawa 650 i'm thinking of a smaller machine w-4wd a automatic tranny probably 250-350cc range since i figure i'll probably be packing most of the stuff on my machine, and want a lighter machine for her,and since she's not aspeed demon we could get by with a smaller machine, with price mattering what would guys suggest for HER new ride-thanks -tt

King quad 450, Can Am 400, Kawi 360 avoid the AC and Polaris.   For the ease of riding and comfort (your's and her's) I would consider a nice independant suspension one.  That will give your wife the best ride (and prevent her complaining at night ..... aka your comfort) and going any smaller than 360 cc will frustrate you.  The 360 is not a speed demon.  Even a nice older honda 350-400 would work.  If you are going camping ........ you two will be loaded down.

I bought a 360cc Kaw Prairie 4x4 for my wife and it does just fine for her......Not overpowering but enough power when she needs it.....
I would rather hunt with Cheney than ride with Ted Kennedy.

Well if you go for an older Honda, then you can forget the independant rear suspension.  Have you considered a two up atv like Bombardier/Canam has?  That would probably mean selling your current rig in order to buy a two up model, or you could go with a side by side like  a Yamaha Rhino, Polaris Ranger, or similar model from a number of manufacturers.  It would give you and the wife time off road together where you would be side by side and the bed would allow you to carry alot of camping gear you might not otherwise be able to take along.  Just a thought or two to consider...
