Metal insert in forearm
« on: May 16, 2007, 08:00:04 PM »
Tonight while fitting a new forearm to my 30 carbine stub project I discovered the new forearm I had bought at auction had metal in the hole for the forearm screw.  The last one I did was just plain wood.  I would think the metal would be more desired, but I think this may have been an older forearm, it is the kind that is tapered up toward the barrel and not the flaired down type.  Not really important, just a curiosity. Anyone else have ones with metal inserts?   Larry

One of my older "shotgun" type forearms has an insert. None of my newer ones do.
