OK i see i cant get a Remington, Winchester, or browning in a .308 in what i want. What other options do I have besides savage. I would like to stay with a american made rifle but i guess its starting not to matter now. I guess really i have been looking at tikkas now. I guess if i dont go with a tikka it will most likely be steped up to 300wm in a Remington.

Other than that what other options do i have in a american made repeater .308 bolt action rifle to stay around 2 grand or under?

i want a .308 CDL LH which they don't carry anymore. I want a .308 in a abolt-medallion which they don't have and if you can show me where to find one in winchester i would greatly appreciate.

if i don't go .308 it will be a .300 win mag. Basically what i buy i want the wood stock and then switch out to custom synthetic and possibly a barrel and trigger job if i don't like the guns handling and bullet grouping ability's. thus the reason for the model 700 for availability of parts and gunsmiths that know the rifle

i really dont want to step up to the .300wm but the .308 is all i really want in a non magnum caliber.

Slickest, with the information that you provided as far as what you are willing to do/spend your solution is easy.  Buy the CDL in 243 which they do offer in Left Hand then have it rebarreled to 308 and you have the rifle you want this will probably come in aroud 1100 dollars so it is well under your 2000 threshold.  You will even have money for a synthetic stock and trigger I would suspect.  A less expensive option would be to buy the 700 SPS youth model in left hand and rebarrel/restock but you wouldn't have the nice wood stock.  Hope this helps

thanks for the helpful information LEO. I have never had a rifle re barreled to another caliber so is the the .243 the only cal in the .700 cdl that can be re barreled to a .308?

It's not really the only one, but it is a pretty easy swap. The 243 and 308 share the same parent case, (308) and both guns are short action. The only difference is the bore diameter's of the 2 barrels. It's just a matter of having the barrel swapped and headspaced by a competent gunsmith, and you're done. Simple really.

I just bought a Savage 10flp,it's a heavy barrelled 308 left handed,and according to many reviews,is the best bang for the buck.I dropped $550 on the rifle,$60 for rings and bases,$210 for a scope.
