Wesson and Harrington Long Tom Classic
« on: June 03, 2007, 12:52:35 PM »
I have a NWTF long tom single shot 12 gauge.  It is color case hardened and stamped with the NWTF logo.  Is this considered an H&R?  Barrels swap out ok to a SB2 receiver.  Also a pardner 20 gauge will fit on the W&R.  The W&R receiver looks like an sb1 except it has a smaller firing pin than the Pardner, but bigger than the SB2.  Would the color case add strength to this receiver, or just for show?  If stronger could it be used for 45 long colt orig loads and 38 spec.?

Well, if it follows suit to the rest of H&R's build years, it was made in 1993, but the only way to know would be to call H&R and ask them what barrels can be fitted to it. Most likely, they'll only fit shotgun or a muzzleloader barrel to it, but they would be the only ones to know for sure. It can't be fitted with any high pressure barrels if it was indeed made in '93, '99(NN or HN) and later is the requirement for those.

Hello Jerry, I am not an expert on serial numbers, but I think it was made before
SB 2 's therefore I would not use with a center fire rifle barrel.
I think it is to good to possible mess it up. Just MHO. Marv.

Thanks guys you are certainly "quick".  I pretty much figured it would be shotgun only due to the inside material finish.  Just thought I'd ask the experts.  I'll have to keep on looking for my second SB2 receiver.  You guys are so quick on the classifieds too,...sheese >:( >:( ;D
