270 Remington Managed Recoil
« on: June 18, 2007, 10:26:06 AM »
I was wondering if anybody has used the 270 Remington Managed Recoil round. If so how does it shoot and how does it work on game.

                                                                Thanks

I set up a 270 for my 11 yr old to shoot with that ammo. The ammo is not the most accurate in that gun, but not bad over the effective range of that ammunition (~1.25" @ 100 yds). Much better accuracy than the Federal reduced recoil load (a much slower 140 gr bullet). Terminal performance was good; he took a nice 8 pt through the shoulder (missed the bone) that trotted about 15 yds before expiring. If the shooter is recoil sensitive, I highly recommend it. Prior to hearing about the remington managed recoil line, I was considering getting a .243 rifle for him. This let him use the same rifle I took my first deer with when I was just a little older than he is. Rather than cut down the original stock, I bought a synthetic stock and cut that down for him. That way, when he grows a little more, we can switch back to the original walnut stock (or just get another synthetic for it). Now he and I both have some cherished memories from that rifle.
