NCstar???

I've never heard of this brand before...NCstar...initially I saw these and thought there is no way they could be good because they were too, cheap.  My question is has anyone owned one or have an opinion on them??  Just kind of a general question too, whats truely the difference in a cheaper scope like a simmons and an expensive scope like a luepold.  Just wondering??  Thanks in advance

 I've ended up with a a few NcStar scopes and found them all to be borderline unusable. Junk of the highest order.

 YES a world of diffrence, Is a BMW better than a Kia?  But that being said in the realm of 3x9x40 scopes as you get more expensive than a ProStaff for $150 you kinda get to that point of diminishing return.

 Is a $300 Leupold better than a $160 Nikon, certianlly. But is it $140 dollars better? I'm not so certian. Or the $300 Leupold compared to a $500 Conquest ect ect

Most scopes will do ok until you get to tough conditions, or until after they're knocked around a little for a couple of years.  That's where the good scopes show the difference - low light conditions and durability.  Take a zeiss and a ncstar outside at dusk and you'll see the difference.  That's maybe both ends of the quality range, but the difference applies across the range.

My brother missed an elk last year at dusk about 350 yards out because with his low end scope he couldn't pick it out of the juniper.  It was clear in my Zeiss from 75 yds farther away.  That's when the $100 - 200 saved seems like a mistake.

On the other hand if you're a casual plinker/small game hunter, anything but the very cheapest will probably do ok.

      Had a 4x32E on my slug gun, two years two deer, and then it fell apart. what a wast of money!

Thats what i figured about the NCstar.  I think i'm going to shelll out the extra money and buy a Leupold VX-II or a Nikon Monarch

I have one on a 44 mag 6" Smith & Wesson and its holding up pretty good. My brother has one on a 41 mag and it's does good. But i would not be surprised if they don't hold up over a period of time. We both are shooting short distances with them and that may be helpful as if we was shooting and great distance they may not be as accurate as a better quality of scope.

Had 3 (bought 1 and returned twice).  All three lasted one cylinder on a Ruger 454. Last one weighted down a trash bag.
