Synthetic stock recoil on Model 7600
« on: May 22, 2007, 05:54:19 PM »
Changed the stock on my 35Whelen from the original stock (which I still have) and replaced it with a synthetic stock and fired 20rds thru it for familiarization.  The week before I zeroed the rifle with the walnut stock and 20ea 200gr reloads.  It shoots really nice and accurate.  Then changed to the synthetic stock and fired 20ea 200gr rounds thru and believe me or not I couldn't have fired 40rds with the synthetic stock, it about wore my shoulder down.  Thinking real seriously about putting the walnut stock back on rifle.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this phenomena in the rifle just changing stocks.  I wanted the synthetic stock for my Alaska hunt next.  It shoots about the same as far as accuracy, just kicks like hell.  Maybe I need to put some lead in the rear for more weight.
