Gander mountain readressed
« on: May 24, 2007, 11:53:04 PM »
well as a follow up on my gander mountain post i did file a compaint on there website. It didnt take but a matter of hours after doing it and the local store manager called me so you can believe that at least they take the time to pay attention to there customers. I explained to him how i felt i was shafted twice there. He didnt argue the point either way but told me by law he couldnt take the 22 shells back once they left the store. He told me the liability involved in the case that someone tampered with ammo is to great to risk and i guess i can understand that in this screwed up world.  The bricks were put on the shelf by accident and were suppose to be sold as individual packs and thats why they werent priced and thats why i was charged individual price on each box. He said he couldnt give me my money back but did give me a brick of fed match small pistol primers for free to make up for the differnce. I told him that i thought there priceing was rediculous and he said he would look into it Wether or not he does or not i will never know. But it shows me that if everyone would go to there web site and maybe send them a note explaining that there upset with there pricing and that they would sell more and make a better overal profit by lowering there prices on reloading components it might shake them up enough to actually get them to do it.

I did the same thing about a year ago. The Kentwood Gander Mountain was the store that I complained about. My situation was that I wanted to buy a used Springfield Armory Trophy Match .45. This gun had been in the case for nearly a year when I got serious about buying it.

One afternoon I went in the store to ask about the price and to see if the manager would deal on the gun. I offered $200 less than what was on the tag ($1175). Well the manager told me he could not make a deal on the gun. He explained further that there was a company policy that says the prices on used guns have to be firm for 6 months after they are put out for sale. I told the manager that I thought the gun had been in the case or almost a year at that point. He countered and said that it had only been in the store for about two and a half months.

I told the guy that I believed his price was too high also. There was another one in the case that was brand new and it was $50 less. The guy told me I might want to consider that one.

I was so pissed that I left the store. I called the corperation and made a complaint as Lloyd did.

The problem with the manager was that he didn't know $#!T about what he was saying. I was the idiot that sold the gun to the store nearly a year ago. I had traded the gun off because I didn't have much use for it at the time. I traded it toward a Kimber Classic 8400 .300 WSM. I started shooting bullseye matches in the fall after I had traded off the gun and could have used the gun for these matches.

I got a call from the manager too. He was very agreeable that he had made an a$$ of himself. I didn't argue that point. He offered to sell me the gun back at a way better price and I took him up on it.

The Grandville GM is run way better then the Kentwood store.

my hat off to gander mountain, they installed a scope  and the rings came loose due to faulty rings and their installation. they replaced the mount, rings and scope at cost to me.

I SAY THANK YOU TO GANDER MOUNTAIN AND THANK YOU TO THE STAFF. they do stand behind their work and products.
