The care and feeding of a Walther USP....
« on: July 02, 2007, 04:28:56 AM »
Any of you guys have one or played with one?

I picked up one from a guy in my bullesye club. He decided the R25 ammo was TOO $$ to use. (He is right!!!) But he wanted to use this pistol and not handicap its use with R25. So he bought an additional fire control and worked with that to try to get it to shoot CCI target shorts. No luck...so he decided to sell. Trouble is this is a hi-dollar pistol and not everybody want to sell out this kind of dough.

That was about a year ago. Last month he offered it to me at a price I could not refuse. the trigger is infinitely adjustable. After about two hours on the range I was able to get it to function with the CCI rapid fire perfectly. Slow fire was a different story. It seems to me the rest of the trigger was the issue. NOT cocking, the pistol is re-cocking but the trigger was not resetting. Kinda hard to describe if you haven't seen it. I got it to work by eliminating the take up on the pre travel. Now the trigger has the smoothest creep you can imagine. If I eliminate it its not reliable. I believe its just an adjustment, but am having difficulty getting everything set.

Any one with experience car to lend a hand?

 Here is a pic:

You'll be better off asking here: http://www.targettalk.org/index.php  It's a forum dedicated entirely to this arena of the shooting sports and some darn knowledgeable folks there.
