New barrel has loose fit

   I just received a .450 marlin barrel, it has a small side to side play in the receiver with out the forarm but once I put the forearm on the barrel has a firm fit, it does not move . Is this normal, if not is there any way to correct this.

I think youre gunna want to  tighten that up. Maybe a shim job.  Just hang on the guys on here will be able to tell ya, & give some ideas. Read the barrel fitting threads in the FAQs.

Was it a factory fit barrel or one you got 2nd hand ? If it is factory , give them a call Tues. AM and explain the problem , i know that they will make it right .

If it was one you got used , it can be tightened up by putting a shim at the point were the underlug fits on to the pivit pin of the frame . try cutting a small peice of soda can to fit and form it into the notch and see if it closes and locks up tight , may be too much or not enough but it is a place to start .

And yes be sure to read the barrel fitting in the FAQs , it will explain it better .

   Thank you, Did not have a soda can but used a small piece of tape for now, No movement at all. A small piece from a soda can should be perfect.
