Suggestions for 12 ga reloads?
« on: May 22, 2007, 11:28:22 AM »
Just looking for some input, I'm getting started reloading shotshells, mostly 12 ga 2 3/4", #5, 4, and 8 shot. Going to the big city Sat., anybody have any ideas on wads, I'll probably use 700 powder. Most of my shooting is clays and chukars. Thanks, Jim

Chukars are a pretty hardy bird. I would recommend a heartier load for them with a powder like blue dot to gain better muzzle velocity, thus penetration. The 700-X will work fine for target loads although I use Hodgdon Clays powder for my target loads. The wads will be a function on the load recipe you select and the amount of lead shot you want to load. Go the the powder manufacturer web site and select a recipe that appeals to you.
Hunting and fishing are not matters of life or death. They are much more important than that.

A popular shot size for Chukar is #6 pellets.
