« on: June 07, 2007, 02:59:43 PM »
I'm loading some 55 grain V-max, has anyone played with the OAL ? What did you find ? I notice there is a Large gap before the ogive will contact the lands. ~Ace~

Handi 223s have long throats, a fact of life, most just load to recommended COL and they shoot very well. ;)

Thanks ! I loaded some to 2.280 today and were Sub MOA, so I'll keep with that. ~Ace~

I've gotten better success with seating both my 223 and a 270 H&R that I load well past COL, but if your shooting Sub MOA then I would not change a thing. ;D

I shoot the 50gr V-max and the OAL that shoots best in mine is 2.31,played around going out .05 at a time to 2.50 but they shot best at 2.31.Won't hurt to play around alittle, but like Tim said thay have a long throat.
